Everest College Instructor Chosen as 2010 Olympic Torchbearer

Everest College instructor, Larry White, has been selected by RBC as a 2010 Olympic Torchbearer.

“It is exciting to be part of something so extraordinary as the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay and I want to thank RBC for this opportunity,” said Larry White.

“I pledge to serve my community and to being an example to others. I enjoy being a mentor to my students and I am excited to share this experience with them.”

White, a retired Hamilton police officer, currently teaches law enforcement at Everest College and likes to see his students succeed and strongly believes volunteering is the key to strong communities.

“We are pleased to announce Larry White as a 2010 Olympic Torchbearer and recognize the contribution their pledge will make to creating an even better Canada,” said Vince Isber,” RBC’s Regional Vice President for Greater Hamilton.

“Anyone can be part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. We encourage residents of Hamilton to share in this thrill of a lifetime by entering our contest at rbc.com/carrythetorch to be a torchbearer and win the ultimate Olympic experience.”

RBC will award over 2,300 Olympic Torchbearer spots through this contest which closes July 15, 2009. To enter, pledge to create a better Canada at rbc.com/carrythetorch.

Approximately 12,000 Canadians will carry the flame across the country at their own pace with millions more cheering and supporting them. Applicants will be asked to select where in Canada they want to carry the Olympic Flame.

From June 21st to the 27th, RBC will be celebrating those individuals and groups, who are committed to making their community a better place to live.
