Banking and Financial Services Basics Taught at Everest College in Windsor

Unlike most of the Western World, Canada managed to avoid the banking industry meltdown that continues to cripple the economies of the United States and Europe. In fact, Canada’s highly regulated banking system was viewed with admiration – and perhaps even envy – during the economic summit held in Toronto last July.[1]

For students interested in a career in Canadian banking and finance, Everest College of Business, Technology and Health Care offers a Banking and Financial Services program at its Windsor, Ontario, campus that provides a valuable introduction to this exciting and rewarding field. The intensive seven-month program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to get entry-level employment with Canadian banks or financial services companies.

A Wide-Ranging Curriculum

Everest’s Banking and Financial Services program helps prepare students for real-life responsibilities by providing education in relevant computer applications and customer service skills. Courses include:

  • Introduction to Computers
  • Windows Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Word
  • Micro Excel
  • Customer Service Representative (Parts 1 & 2)
  • Foreign Exchange
  • Consumer and Mortgage Credit
  • Investments
  • Mutual Funds

The Mutual Funds course includes the Canadian Investment Funds Course (CIFC) from the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). Graduates, once employed by a registered company (such as a bank) are eligible to apply the provincial Securities Commission for a mutual fund license.
