Many experts will tell you that the best way to get a job (or a raise at your current job) is to have a specific technical skill people need. In the business world, few skills are as universally needed as accounting. Even if you don't become a certified public accountant (CPA) or even earn an accounting degree, having some background in the accounting field may open doors that might otherwise have been closed to you.
In Barrie, you can acquire hands-on experience in several popular accounting applications at Everest College of Business, Technology and Health Care. At its Barrie campus, Everest College offers an Accounting and Computer Applications program that, in less than a year, teaches students the fundamentals of accounting as well as how to put those concepts to work in an actual business environment. Everest's instructors are accounting and business professionals who can provide personal and professional guidance on how to successfully apply for a job as well as deliver the kind of day-to-day performance most employers demand.
An Intense Curriculum
As Everest is a career education college, its focus is on technical and business acumen rather than general education subjects. Its Accounting and Computer Applications program consists of more than a dozen courses that teach marketable accounting and business skills through courses that include:

- Microsoft Excel
- Bookkeeping and Financing Accounting (Levels I & II)

Upon graduation, Everest College students can get additional support from the school's Career Services team. They can help with resume preparation, interview strategies and identifying local employment opportunities.
