Learn Essential Office Skills at Everest in Thunder Bay

Office AssistantAs manufacturing becomes less and less important to Canada's economy*, job opportunities are likely to be concentrated more and more in the professional and service sectors. For people without a college degree, finding rewarding jobs in this arena can be difficult — unless you have technical skills employers want.

With this in mind, Everest College of Business, Technology and Health Care created the Executive Office Assistant career education program. Offered at Everest's Thunder Bay campus and other campuses throughout Ontario, the Executive Office Assistant program is for high school graduates who are eager to enter the workforce but still need training and experience in skills that lead to jobs in professional environments.

Everest's Executive Office Assistant program teaches essential computer applications, business communications skills and financial concepts. Designed to have students through the program in less than a year, the curriculum includes:

  • Introduction to Computers
  • Windows Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Office Skills
  • Business English and Proofreading
  • Business Writing
  • Advanced Business Communications
  • Bookkeeping and Financial Accounting
  • Computerized Accounting with Simply
  • Database Management
  • Effective Office Simulation

The program is taught by business professionals who bring practical insights to the classroom. Classes are small to promote student-teacher interaction. And upon graduation, students can use Everest's Career Services to help them transition into the workplace, including getting help setting up interviews with potential employers.

Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify.
