Medical laboratory assistants and technicians work in clinical settings, usually under the supervision of trained doctors or laboratory technologists. Work usually involves testing patient blood, tissue and other biological samples to check for disease or other medical conditions. Their responsibilities can include:• Preparing and analyzing biological specimens

  • Providing detailed instructions for handling specimens to doctors or other lab staff members
  • Operating automated analyzing machines
  • Conducting manual tests according to the lab's procedural requirements and protocols
